The sports betting experts are trying to keep up with all of the candidates being mentioned for the managing jobs in Boston, Chicago and St. Louis. The marquee jobs have been for the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs. The candidates have been a revolving door that has everyone spinning.
The top contender for both jobs, for the longest time, was Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux. When Maddux pulled himself out of consideration for the Boston job, it was then thought that Sandy Alomar had a lock on that job. That then left Mike Maddux and former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona as top contenders for the Chicago job.
Terry Francona recently made the price per head announcement that he will not be managing next season. Just when everyone thought that Francona’s announcement meant that Maddux would manage in Chicago and Alomar in Boston, the Red Sox and Cubs changed everything up.
A betonline review of the newest headlines now shows that Milwaukee Brewers’ hitting coach Dale Sveum has been offered the Cubs job as Mike Maddux is no longer a consideration. But Sveum is going to give the Red Sox a chance to beat the Chicago offer as the Red Sox have suddenly expressed an interest in Sveum as well.
Houston businessman Jim Crane and his group of investors are now the proud owners of the Houston Astros. The group paid $610 million for the team, which includes a $70 million discount from MLB for agreeing to move the Astros to the AL in 2013.
